Well, having covered a classic car show in Shropshire for our event photography last weekend, we had another one this week at Stafford Castle. What a great place, friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to help and a really nice crowd of visitors and exhibitors.
These shows are quite a bit different from the hectic equestrian events that we cover throughout the summer. I can take a bit more time talking to people and it’s always interesting coming across someone who has the same car as me (I have a 1978 MG Midget, my dad’s pride and joy, which I’ve been gradually restoring over the past couple of years, and a 1973 VW type 2 camper).
Halfway through the day we had an unexpected bonus with a couple of scooter clubs arriving on the scene. They parked in the wooded area, which was ideal for getting some really nice shots in the sun dappled shade. I love the variety of cars and bikes that you get at shows like this, they’re beuatifully turned out and the owners are always happy to talk and of course pose for photos, although it can be hard getting a good photo when there are constant onlookers peering through windscreens and posing for their own photos! We even had a visit from Geoff Collier, the Mayor of Stafford, who awarded the prizes with fantastic enthusiasm.
